Meals on Wheels!

I've decided to pick 'Outreach' as a loose theme for MoFo this year, basically trying to get vegan food into non vegans wherever possible! Meals on Wheels is a service that originated in Britain during the Blitz in areas where many people lost their homes and it was set up to deliver food to them. It later evolved into programmes designed to deliver food to the elderly.

My Meals on Wheels consists of taking an evening meal over to friends houses to share with them. I've been doing it for a while and it works particularly well with friends with young children who I may not get to see in the evenings otherwise. Tonight's menu has an Italian theme with mushroom and sundried tomato risotto from Vegan With a Vengeance with a side salad followed by Orange and Polenta Cake with Orange Drizzle Syrup from Maple Spice blog and dessert wine. It's always good to make a bit extra so you can leave it with them for the next days lunch or dinner too!

  5. What a great idea! And you've given me a great idea too. I've wanted to try making a risotto for ages and I happen to have a jar of sundried tomatoes in the cupboard AND my VeganMoFo theme is to cook at least one dish from each of my 17 vegan cookbooks during the month one of which happens to be VWAV. Yay!! Thanks :)
